Our client in the commercial vehicle and automotive industry is seeking to employ a Diesel Technician to join their team based in Cape Town.

Requirements:
  • Matric (Grade 12).

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in a similar Diesel Technician role.

  • Qualified Diesel Trade Test.

  • Valid Code 14 driver's licence with PDP.

  • Strong technical knowledge and diagnostic abilities.

  • Good understanding of workshop procedures and systems.

  • Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Commitment to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Workshop Foreman and maintain positive internal working relationships.

  • Perform repairs, servicing and maintenance to the highest standards.

  • Accurately record hours worked and sold on job cards.

  • Record all lubricants, parts and consumables used during repairs.

  • Follow workshop systems and processes as instructed by management.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the Parts Department.

  • Ensure all work complies with FAW SA minimum standards.

  • Attend and participate in all required training programmes.

  • Share knowledge and contribute to the development of colleagues and apprentices.

  • Take responsibility for ongoing personal learning and self-development.

  • Respond professionally and courteously to customer breakdowns.

  • Wear the correct PPE and maintain a professional appearance at all times.

  • Ensure company vehicles are kept clean and presentable.

  • Prepare thoroughly before attending breakdowns.

  • Comply with all road traffic regulations.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, apprentices and management.

  • Mentor and support apprentices through effective skills transfer.

  • Promote productivity and teamwork within the workshop.

  • Demonstrate excellent timekeeping and professionalism.

  • Correctly diagnose warranty claims using the Complaint, Cause and Correction (3C) process.

  • Complete all apprenticeship documentation accurately where applicable.

  • Ensure full compliance with all health and safety regulations.

  • Care for company tools, special tools and assets.

  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.

  • Manage working hours and overtime in accordance with company procedures and labour legislation.
