Maintenance Operator

Description Our client in the Maritime / Fishing industry is currently looking to employ a Maintenance Operator, to their team based in Port Elizabeth (PE Harbour).

Note :  this is a 3-month Temporary Position, but possible permanent based on performance of appointed candidate.

Requirements:
  • Grade 12.
  • N2 Mechanical.
  • 8 -10 years’ experience in the mechanical field.
  • Fitter - Semiskilled.
  • Valid Driver’s License – Advantageous.
  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and related universal best practices.
  • Knowledge of bearings and lubricants.
  • Knowledge in light/medium machinery.
  • Knowledge in basic welding and fabrication and maintenance planning.
  • Knowledge of legislative and industry protocols and regulations that apply in maintenance.
  • Knowledge in problem solving and fault finding.
Responsibilities:
  • Record keeping and completing job cards on Prisma Maintenance system.
  • Complete equipment checks sheets as per manufactures requirements.
  • Capacity to take initiative off all projects.
  • Complete projects in the expected time frame.
  • Making schedules, assigning work and training employees.
  • Motivate employees to increase their productivity and meet work goals.
  • To ensure the proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Supervise junior team members.
  • Responsible for mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and services as required.
  • Report to maintenance manager any incidents.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and attend to breakdowns.
  • Ensure adequate inventory, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates, and document all purchases.
  • Assist with mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting and repair as needed.
  • Liaise with maintenance manager and contractors and resolve any matters arising.
  • Follow up corrective actions and implement. countermeasures to minimise reoccurrence of faults.
  • Maintain effective Health and Safety systems, including completion of risk assessments and method statements and toolbox talk's where appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff and subcontractors' response and rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay.
  • Take all possible steps to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
