Our client, a leader in the Financial Services Industry, and based in Umhlanga, KwaZulu Natal; is seeking to appoint a experienced Short Term and Life Insurance Risk Consultant.
The role includes identifying and analysing Life and Short-Term Insurance (STI) opportunities, within financial planning partners’ client bases.
equirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Investments, or related field.
- FAIS-recognised qualification.
- CFP designation preferred.
- RE5 certification is essential.
- DOFA Certification
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Willing and able to travel for client meetings.
- Must be fully authorised as a representative (not under supervision) for FSCA sub-categories:
- Long-Term Insurance: B1, B1-A, B2, B2-A, and C.
- Experience in these categories must not have lapsed.
- Proven evidence of class of business and product-specific training.
- Up-to-date Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role (Broker Consultant / Life Insurance Agent, etc.).
- XPlan experience advantageous; fully computer literate.
- Must meet FAIS honesty, integrity, and good standing requirements.
- Must not have been declared insolvent or provisionally insolvent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- Client-focused, proactive, and a self-starter.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyse Life and Short-Term Insurance (STI) opportunities within financial planning partners’ client bases.
- Prepare and present comprehensive advice documents including proposals, comparisons, and quotations.
- Provide specialist advice in Life Insurance (e.g., Death, Disability, and Critical Illness cover).
- Manage client onboarding and underwriting requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews of clients’ cover based on changes in their circumstances or internal procedures.
- Generate and refer STI leads to the STI tele-advisor:
- Obtain client consent.
- Book and coordinate appointments.
- Forward necessary documents (e.g., existing STI schedules).
- Follow up on appointment outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and financial planning partners.
- Participate in initiatives to engage, educate, and better meet the needs of clients.
- Travel to reach clientele.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of partner and client initiatives.
- Uphold Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
- Ensure compliance with all industry and group regulatory requirements.
