Our client in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry is currently looking to employ a Maintenance Technician, based in Kariega.
Requirements:

A National Nated Diploma, National Diploma, BTech, BEng or BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.

At least 5 years’ experience in a vehicle manufacturing maintenance and/or industrial technical environment.

Ability to read and interpret E-Plan electrical and pneumatic drawings.

Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with effective problem-solving capabilities.

Willingness to:
-
Work shifts, overtime, weekends, public holidays and during plant shutdowns, if required.

Participate in a standby roster.
-
Undergo and pass an appropriate assessment.
-
Complete and pass compulsory VASS training.
-
Good attendance record.

Responsibilities:

Repair faulty equipment and parts including welding guns, servo-pneumatic valves, transmission modules, tucker guns, and sealer equipment.

Resolve robotic electronic communication faults by adjusting the robotic program to prevent reoccurrence and ensure continuous production.

Analyse and optimise sealer, toxing, welding, laser, bolting, and rivet joining equipment to meet quality standards and production efficiency.
-
Analyse PLC programs to resolve errors and determine root causes of Interbus or Profinet network faults. Determine corrective actions to continue the production process and avoid downtime.

Fault-find, set up, and program SEW drives using diagnostics software such as Movitools and Motion Studio.

Modify, update, and improve HMI diagnostic software to accurately identify faulty equipment and support rapid resolution of stoppages.

Analyse and investigate recurring or severe production stoppages, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures.

Communicate with equipment suppliers and technology experts to resolve complex equipment failures.

Document breakdowns, stoppages, and problem-solving actions in systems such as Knowledge Management Systems, TPM sheets, and PM schedules.

Conduct root cause analysis after each breakdown and ensure documentation of causes, countermeasures, and corrective actions.

Ensure robot safety circuits meet required standards and safety conditions are in place.

Perform robot and PLC program backups to ensure recovery in the event of data loss.
