Our client, a well-known citrus farming and packhouse operation, is seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented IR and HR Manager (Compliance) to join their team in Kirkwood, Eastern Cape.
This critical role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with legal, ethical, environmental, labour, food safety, and export requirements, while safeguarding market access and promoting a culture of sustainability and ethical conduct.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in HR, Industrial Relations, Compliance, Environmental Management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in compliance, HR or IR, and audit management (agriculture or packhouse environment preferred)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Labour legislation and CCMA processes
- SIZA, GLOBALG.A.P., and ethical trade standards
- Employment Equity and Skills Development legislation
- Export and EU compliance requirement
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance & Export
- Ensure compliance with South African legislation and international export requirements.
- Manage EU verification audits and customer-specific compliance protocols.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and certification bodies.

Certification & Audit Management
- Maintain certifications including GLOBALG.A.P., SIZA, and customer standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits (announced, unannounced, and investigative).
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and audit readiness is maintained.

Human Resources & Industrial Relations
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and employee records.
- Handle disciplinary processes, grievances, and CCMA cases.
- Ensure labour law compliance and fair, consistent workplace practices.

Ethical Trade & Sustainability
- Act as the designated Ethical Manager for the business.
- Ensure compliance with ethical trade standards and SIZA requirements.
- Manage environmental compliance including water, waste, and sustainability reporting.

Occupational Health & Safety
- Implement and maintain Health & Safety systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Manage injury-on-duty cases and statutory reporting.

Payroll, Skills Development & Employment Equity
- Oversee payroll compliance (UIF, PAYE, wages, deductions).
Compile and submit WSP, ATR, and Employment Equity reports. Coordinate training, learnerships, and workforce development initiatives.

Food Safety & Quality
- Maintain food safety systems and full product traceability.
- Ensure packhouse compliance with export and food safety requirements.
