Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking to employ a Shift Supervisor – Plate Making to join their team based in Port Elizabeth.

Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Certificate in a Technical or Production-related field (NQF 5)
• Diploma in a Technical or Production-related field (NQF 6) – advantageous
• Trade Test (NQF 5) – advantageous
• First Line Management (FLMP) Certificate (NQF 5) – advantageous
• Up to 5 years’ experience in Production / Maintenance within a manufacturing environment
• 1–2 years at a supervisory level

Responsibilities

Production and Operations Control:

• Achieve production targets through effective use of resources
• Ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to production schedules
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation
• Ensure strong communication across departments

Maintenance Control:

• Coordinate preventative and first-line maintenance
• Minimise downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance
• Raise and approve job cards and ensure compliance with safety permits
• Maintain safe working conditions and housekeeping standards

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations
• Identify and report risks within the department
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Staff Supervision:

• Manage employee performance and conduct appraisals
• Identify training and development needs
• Handle employee relations matters effectively

Financial Control:

• Assist with budgeting processes
• Monitor and control departmental expenditure
• Identify cost-saving opportunities

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Maintain strong internal and external relationships
• Represent the company in meetings where required
