Logistics Assistant (Dispatch)

Description Our client, in the Agricultural Sector and based in Kirkwood, is currently looking to employ an experienced Logistics Assistant.

Requirements:
  • Matric qualification is essential; additional tertiary qualification(s) will be advantageous. 
  • Applicable packhouse, warehouse and logistics experience, preferably in fruit agriculture. 
  • Fair understanding of agricultural exports.
  • Extensive understanding of the portfolio of packhouse- and logistics principles.
  • Computer literacy. 
  • Must be able to work after hours and overtime according to Shipping stacks and availability of containers. 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage stock in cold stores.
  • Ensure compliance to protocol and arrange re-inspections.
  • Deploy dispatching duties in relation to stock allocations, planning, communication and administration.
  • Communication between transporters and exporters.
  • Manage computer systems, personnel, equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure storage facility and procedures comply to industry related protocol.
  • Cater for housekeeping, discipline and general administration. 
  • Operate logistics related computer systems.
  • Adherence to Food Safety Standards.
  • Stock control.
  • Oversee dispatching.
  • Control of equipment, facilities and cost management.
