Our client in the FMCG Industry is currently looking to employ an Area Manager, based in KwaZulu-Natal.
Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, or related field – advantageous
- Minimum 3–4 years’ experience within an FMCG environment
- Proven experience managing sales representatives and agents
- Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Computer literacy with strong reporting and financial management capabilities
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and time management skills
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally
Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Development
- Drive regional sales growth and achieve revenue targets
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within the retail sector
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies and action plans
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and buying groups
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery
- Manage customer queries, complaints, and escalations effectively
- Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews
Sales Performance and Reporting
- Set, monitor, and achieve sales targets and KPIs
- Conduct regular sales performance reviews with team members
- Analyse sales figures, trends, and regional performance
- Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports
Promotions and Retail Execution
- Manage promotional activities, pricing strategies, and in-store execution
- Ensure visibility and availability of products within stores
- Monitor merchandising standards and promotional compliance
- Manage sample stock and free stock budgets effectively
Stock and Financial Management
- Oversee stock management processes and inventory control
- Monitor credit processes and ensure adherence to financial controls
- Ensure accurate forecasting and demand planning
- Drive cost-effective operations and minimise stock variances
Team Leadership and Territory Management
- Lead, coach, mentor, and manage sales representatives and agents
- Ensure effective territory management and field operations
- Monitor team productivity and ensure performance targets are achieved
- Conduct training and provide ongoing support to the sales team
